I came up with an idea that could cost me a lot of money; buying an M30 ($3400) and getting the Y34 Gloria front clip (VQ30DET, RWD, 5 speed automatic, $1500) and swapping it in. Does anyone know of any obvious reasons why this swap wouldnt work, or be really hard to do? The result would be pretty cool to me, and i would hope a lot of you as well. 280+hp in a rare Infiniti sounds good to me.

The steering shaft and the exhaust manifolds turbo etc always seem to be a problem in using left drive designs in right drive US cars.

The Clean Air Act makes it illegal to swap engines not designed for US cars........

Ah the clean air act.. i like to look at it this way. If my car goes faster, i'l be on the road for less time, therefore reducing total polution. Theres not too big of a hassle in inspections here in Utah, its not like a cali smog station kind of thing.

But i guess i'l never know if it will work unless i buy a clip and a car and see. I haven't seen anyone swap the VQ30DET into anything US yet so who knows.

I don't think i'l have the time/money for it though :(
