I just received a replacement Blower Motor Resistor assembly and it has an electrical connector with 5 contact blades. Problem is, the original part has a 3 contact blade connector. In checking all the various sources on the internet, it appears that the replacement part from all suppliers has a connector with 5 contact blades.
Examples at these links:

Anyway, it looks like I'm going to have to make a non-plug-compatible part work. How can I determine which contacts to use if I have to cut the harness connector off and solder wires directly to the connector or the blower motor resistor assembly?

I would check to see if the factory part was actually superceded. Check with your local dealership or http://www.infinitipartsusa.com (call them) - to make sure you can't get the actual resistor that you need. If the factory changed the part, they will have a way to retrofit the connector.

If you're good with a soldering iron here's a thread on repairing your old fan control amp. how-to-fix-your-fan-control-amplifier-t433421-90.html

Good luck!

The aftermarkets are probably crossing the M30 application with the Z31 VG30 which in this case isn't correct. I am showing a super-session on the part, but it's been the same number for years and (beleive it or not) it is still available:

Hope this helps!
