Right on man! Once you get out there, you'll see it doesn't take much nads, just a lot of work and wheel time =) Make sure to ask any questions you may and do the novice walk-through, as it can mean the difference between a good first day and a bad first day.Reverend D21 wrote:I'm just trying to grow the nads to try some autoX this year. I figure if I buy a helmet it commits me to try it out at least.
From his list in his sig, it looks to be STX.PEZi wrote:hey rev... what mods do you have done thus far? aka.... need us to help class the hardbody?
Bimmers, RX8's and Civics too (well, until 2012).Reverend D21 wrote:Really? That stinks. I read up a little bit on STX and it seems there is a lot of Subarus in there to compete with.
well i sure do hope it is... considering i got my 720 placed in the rulebook for EPjdrop wrote: As far as STX goes, it's a good place to start if you want to learn, assuming your truck will be allowed to run. If not, you can always jump in someone else's car.
A lot of it is insurance and safety reasons. We had an XB show up, lowered to the ground, and we were not able to allow him to run. We also had to deny a VW bug.PEZi wrote:
of course he'll have to run as an NOC car... so no tours or national events... but if they tell him no locally then his region sucks
It's not just Solo rules and physics, there are supplemental local rules as well. And really, it depends on each site's specific insurance policy. I can't speak for other regions, but in mine, it's usually on a case-by-case basis. We have had cars flip on our home course (on street tires), so I know we're a little more careful about things that have more of a potential to flip than others.PEZi wrote:They need to take a better look at the actual rules about COG and such then. A Scion XB is perfectly legal via the SCCA rules. Hell, at one of the tours at Wendover, there was a Toyota Tacoma X-Runner that ran in HS on Hoosiers.
This is my truck. Due to the grip level alone my truck has over Rev's, I'd hate to see his get denied when he isn't even going to be running race tires... especially when mine is perfectly legal
FSP!?!?!?! Did you do anything ignition-wise or anything to the intake plenum? You should be STX.Reverend D21 wrote:After going back and forth with one misinformed d*** some other members came to my aid and declared my truck legal to run under FSP. Unreal how some people can get stuff so wrong yet continue to insist they are right.
