Hello everyone,

I've been lurking these forums for awhile. I finally thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Dallas, Texas and got my 3.5 coupe in August of last year.

Now onto something that's bugging me, haha... This girl I know has a Celica GT. She thinks she's the hot s*** of course. She recently told me this...

Celica too fast for the US??? correct me if i'm wrong here, but didn't the GT have 140 hp and the GTS 160?? along with some pitiful torque??? maybe too fast if you're comparing the celica to a scooter

i loved that car in high school, until i test drove one nice cockpit to sit in, feels really sporty, but man that was a dissapointment.

Yeah, the GT has 140/120 and GTS is 180/125 I believe. Looking off of the most recent 2005 model.

Toyota did discontinue the car because it was too fast... too fast and furious.

The car was all show, no go. And I thought the Supra was coming back, not the Celica.

Seems to me like she is a Celica lover which is fine, but it is for sure no Altima.

poop on her hood and make her read ur license plate

i hate dumb people who think there cars are fast......mines slow but i still love it, and it seems quick for me.....the kid who had the celica i raced said he thought his car could run low 13's i laughed my azz off

I have other methods to shut her mouth that don't involve racing, lmao.

And I have seen this turboed GTS around my area that looks like it MIGHT do low 13s.

The GTS uses VVT-L which is basically Toyota's version of VTEC. Until it hits around 5500rpms, it's using the same, sluggish 140hp from the GT version. The only thing it's really got going for it is how light it is. No way in hell it would come close to taking a 3.5, even in GTS trim...

That being said, it does have a really slick interior.

The pretty ones are not always the brightest ones... dangeris you might be onto something here, hotel and drinks sounds like a winner! Even if you end up paying for drinks and the hotel it might still be worth it

As a side- Keep the Toyota talk off a Nissan forum... Also I would put my money on the altima, then again I do have a 6 cylinder against a 4 cylinder

lolLOLOLOL. If I'm not mistaken they stopped the Celica to put the Scion TC into production. That's what any Toyata dealer will tell you atleast. My friend has a Celica... He isn't afraid to tell you the truth. He told me his Celica has 130 horses... He uses it as a show car.. He made it look like a night rider car which is cool... But other than that.. It's nothing more than the mother of the TC. Print this thread out and post it on her windshield with duct tape. Tell her it adds another 10hp to her car. She'd probably believe that too. The Toyata Celica in my opinion has a very nice sporty exterior though.. at least she has that!

haha, thanks, I try. I guess I'll talk a little about myself then but first, here's a pic of my car, shortly after I bought it...

As for what I do, I'm a web designer/developer. Oh, and back to the girl, she told me today she googled "celicas made in another country" will lead you to the web sites talking about how they were too fast for the usa.
