what size socket do I need to buy to use a torque wrench to tighten factory wheels to spec? does it need to be an extended socket also?

Wes is right... 21MM. I typically use a standard socket with about a three inch extension. That keeps the nuts from sliding back into the socket when you remove them.

thanks! sears is now 8.49 richer from my purchase! and,of course, found lugnuts overtightened from the rotate/balance job I had done last week! set t.wrench at 90 lb and tried to loosen nuts,no go! loosened and retightened to 80 ft.lbs all around.

Hmmm ... I wouldn't recommend using a torque wrench to loosen nuts - easy to damage the torque wrench that way, I think! Safest to just remove them with a regular wrench (regardless of whatever they were set to) and then re-tighten to the correct torque value - I set mine to about 84 ft. lbs. (to take into account measurement/accuracy error in the wrench and I'd rather have a little tight than a little loose!)

I always do this after I have had the wheels rotated or re-balanced, regardless of where it is done ... I'd rather get the values right, too!
