I had a rotation done at Discount Tire in Fort Wayne, IN. When they finished and I looked at the record/invoice it showed a torque of 95 ft.*lbs. I asked where they got that spec because I was pretty sure the manual said 80 (it does). I didn't have it there to show them. They get it 'from the computer' or some such thing. I'm not sure if this will cause a problem or not, mainly because they are all torqued evenly (torque stick was used). I don't know if they go back over them or not with a torque wrench.

I looked at some records from the previous owner and they had been (erroneously) torqued to 95 before.

Should I bother with going back and having it redone or just tell them next time?

I put that info into a survey I was sent (third party email); interested to see if anything comes of it.
I have been very happy with them in the past, having bought numerous sets of tires from them and recommending them to others.

I wouldn't worry about it. We're only talking about 15ft lbs. If it was 100+, then I'd have them re-do it.

I had a vm from the local manager - He said they're correcting the error and come in if I want and they'll correct it.

I spoke to the manager and he said their system showed 85 for the 35G and 95 for the 35Gx. Said he'd spoken to the dealer and they told him 85 for both; interesting because the manual clearly states 80. Anyway, he said he was talking to 'corporate' and would get it changed for all 800+ stores.

He didn't think over tight was an issue at all, so I'm letting it go until the next rotation.

Kudo's to discount tire; I've had good experiences with their work and recommendations for the past 16+ yrs and appreciate their acknowledgment and corrective action.

I like them too. Just bought a set of tires myself.
