What us the lug nut socket size for a 09 Rogue. Is it 13/16 or 21mm? Also need recommendations on a good breaker bar and 3 ton jack that will last that I can purchase either in Canada or online shipping to Canada. Thanks

Lug nut size is 21 mm and there's a good 3.5 ton jack and jack stands by Michelin on sale at Canadian Tire. You can usually get a good breaker bar on sale at Princess Auto. Also, sometimes CT has some good ratcheting breaker bars on sale as well.

Yes I am considering the 3.5 ton Michelin jack for $100 at CT however after reading the reviews some people said it loses its lift after awhile and won't last too long. Also I have an Elantra and someone in the reviews said it would not work on that car which is odd since it can lift a SUV. Also thought I could use the torque wrench to loosen my lug nuts so i will have to buy a breaker bar as well.

I just bought a 2.5 tonne jack. Could someone post a pic of where I can place the jack. I am not sure if I should use the cut outs on the edge of the rocker or be using a control arm?

the worst that will happen if you use the cut-outs on the frame-rail, is that the frame rail gets bent. i like to use the 3 or 4 bolts under the control arm. pick a solid flat spot thats not soft aluminum/steel. make it a serious hard metal. something bulky & black & flat.

Could you post a pic where I can put the jack. I need to make sure the jack will reach and yes I don't want to bend the frame where the cut outs are.

Also if I have tpms on my stock wheels and I do not remove the tires from the wheel when I switch to winter's will my tpms light reset itself when I put the stock wheels back on?

put it this way, if its gray undercoated or painted the color of the car = dont jack there. its gotta be black or a silver(steel) to be a good lift point

stick with a, b, or c.

any flat spot on the subframe is fine:

the red circle (bushings) are fine on the subframe:

I am using the designated places on the frame rail, as suggested by the owner's manual. However, I am using a hockey puck between the frame rail and the cup of the floor jack. I just cut a small notch on the puck (1/4" deep), which fits to the frame rail.

You can lift your car from a better location (as ImStricken suggested), to prevent frame rail being bent...but the problem is, when you take the car to the dealer (for a repair that you can't do in your driveway), they lift the car from the frame rails and not all the support arms of their professional lifters have rubber protection...They bent a small part of the cut-out after the first oil change when the car was three months old!

By the way, even if the cut-out is slightly bent, it is not the end of the world. You can flatten it by pliers and spray a protective material like "rocker guard".

I just noticed my summer tires that were already balanced and on the rims do not have any markings showing where they were on the car previous. Front driver, pass rear etc. If I install my tires do they have to be put back in the same spot where they were or will it throw off the balance? As far as my jack placement goes I am going to put it just behind the metal rail with the cut outs using a hockey puck. I bought a torque wrench that said it is guaranteed calibrated for 90 days. How am I supposed to know when it is out of calibration?

thats fine. i usually write on the tread, but its not a big deal

it wont throw the balance out, but it could trip the awd to clunk in the rear differential. all 4 tires have to rotate at the same speed. if the left rear tire is a tiny bit bigger than the right rear tire = the diff will think one is spinning on ice or something. just try it. worse case scenario you'll rotate.

never heard of such a thing. it might be warrantied for 90 days, but that doesnt mean the calibration is only good for 90 days.

if you want to take care of a TQ wrench:
1. never drop it, beat it ,or abuse it.
2. always turn it down to the lowest setting before storage.

All 4 of my tires are the same size and are balanced. I was just wondering if they would be out of balance if I put them in the rear vs the front and also if my tpms will come on and need to be reset? My Rogue is FWD.

while they all might have the same size from the factory, after use - trust me, the are not all the same size anymore.
front tires wear differently than the rear ones. even a millimeter of wear can throw off an AWD system.

again, balance has NOTHING to do with which tires are in the front or rear. if they are out of balance, placing them in the rear will cause the rear to vibrate(thus causing the front to not feel it as much). BUT they still will be out of balance.

put them on, and drive around. if you feel a clunk from 0mph-5mph as you accelerate = re-rotate the tires.

No they should not be out of balance just wanted to make sure that I did not need to place them in the same spots on the car since they were not labeled. Will my tpms need to be reset or is that only when the tire is removed from the wheels?

balance is done on the tires/rims themselves, while off the car. so where they are placed on your car is totally irrelevant.
the only thing that makes "where they are placed on a car" important is when you have an awd system. i know i persoanlly experienced this myself. i got 2 new tires and had 2 tires that were about 90% new. CLUNK-CLUNK-CLUNK ... lol. i simply rotated them to even out the rotation between both axles.

regarding the TPMS - it might come on for a few reasons, but it should turn off after a few miles of driving.
1. 1 or more tpms are dead (it happens. they are not great quality, in any brand/make/model)
2. they are in fact low
3. they need a few miles to reset
4. they are leaking air (recheck your air pressure after a day or so in the cool morning)
5. you might need to reset them

Online websites like ebay or amazon have a lot of jacks that you could purchase. You could also get a breaker bar from those sites. I think craigslist or ebay, etc. are going to be your best bets for finding breaker bars or jacks online for a good price that ship to Canada.

My floor jack's handle is two pieces: a piece attached to the jack and then a 2ft or so extension. The extension is essentially a pipe and it fits nicely around the handle of the tire iron to serve as a breaker bar. Also, Jostudly mentioned using the torque wrench to loosen the lugs but I've heard that's a no-no.
