I recently ordered main bearings, connecting rod bearings, an N1 oil-pump, and an exhaust manifold gasket which should be arriving in the next day or two. I did some searching and I wanted to make sure of what I was getting ready to purchase for lubricants. I am going to be assembling the bottom end (bearings + girdle, then rear-main, then oil-pump) and then water pump + timing assembly.

Here is my list of lubricants to purchase. Am I missing anything?

Permatex:Water Pump Housing Silicone 0.5oz : 22071 : 1.98Ultra Assembly Lubricant : 81950 : 3.98Grey Gasket 3.5oz : 82194 : 4.94Blue Thread locker 6ML : 24200 : 4.94Red Thread locker 6ML : 27100 : 4.94 20.77 + Tax

I already have a quart of oil for lubricating the seals as well. Thanks!

Looks good to me. Just make sure you lube the $hit out of everything before closing things up.

Darius,

I'm confident with the typical lubrication, I just wanted to verify this: I should use the RED Loctite on any threaded surface correct? (con-rod bolts, Oil-pan bolts, water / oil-pump bolts, etc.) or where would I use the blue at? Thanks for the reply.

I just used ARP's molylube for the con-rod bolts, main bolts, and head stud nuts. I didnt' use anything on the oil pan bolts, water pump bolts, or oil pump bolts. I tried to unscrew the internal oil pump screws and re-loctite them, but I couldn't even get them out so they should be good to go.

This time around I am going to use blue loctite on the intake manifold bolts that mount into the head. I don't want them walking out on me. Exhaust manifold bolts just got a healthy dose of anti-sieze and the same goes for the rest of the exhaust related bolts.

do NOT loc-tite your conrod bolts you will not get an accurate torque measurement that way. use the moly lube or the different tq spec for conventional oil.

only thing that really needs loctite are your flywheel bolts

Yeah, CarlH already chastised me about it. But he did straighten me out on when / where to use loctite. Thanks for the info everyone.

Well, I got everything earlier tonight. I should be starting on this stage of my 'adventure' on Thursday (hopefully). Thanks for everybody's input, it _is_ appreciated!
