Hey everybody.

Got a simple question here with a simple answer, I hope.

The automatic seatbelts in my 1990 240sx are a tad sluggish. They work fine and snapy as long as there is no sideways tension on the clasp (as if a seatbelt is attached). However, they slow down a great deal and almost sound as though they're struggling if the seat belt IS attached (again, adding perpendicular tension).

They do still feel a might powerful when I try to slow them myself by hand, head on. Adding sideways tension always slows them down terribly. It doesn't sound like a motor issue. Perhaps something needs to be realigned? Or is this a simple lube issue? Basically, I'm just trying to get them running smoothly again. I've tried a bit of lube in sections, doesn't seem to help.

If it does need to be lubed up, is there an easy way to do this without taking the track apart? I guess a turky baster or something could work.

I tried searching the forums, but couldn't find much. Most were motor repair posts.

Thanks guys.

its normal for them to slow when there is tension, its a personal safety issue. that way they don't literally choke you
