lsx 3000gt

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

My question is has anyone seen one? I might be trading my 240 for a 96 dodge stealth (i know i said 3000gt but they the same thing) for pretty much a even swap. i know that the stealth is awd but it has a rear end and could be upgraded to something stronger. ?? maybe even a nissan vlsd ?? but anyways was wondering if anyone has seen this. i searched some on google and didnt come up with anything.

Well if your good at fabrication sure you could use a S or Z chassis diff, and plate in part of the subframe. Theres a LS1 civic, LS1 Miata's, LS1 Evo9 its all possible.

I know anything can be done with insane amounts of money. I am just wondering if it is at all feasable for a swap like this. I have never been around these cars much less swapped a lsx in one. I was hoping that someone has one or has been around one enough to let me know.

My biggest concern is not the rear end. If they can make a ford focus rwd i can make a awd car rwd. My biggest concern is will the t-56 fit in the transmission tunnel? Oh also were all 3000gt's and stealth's awd or were the r/t and vr-4 models awd and the rest just fwd?

If its not twin turbo, its not AWD.

There is no "trans tunnel" just a driveshaft tunnel, they use the east west mounting just like an eclipse, lancer, etc, so the firewall wont even be flared out for a transmission bellhousing.

You might be able to use a LS4, since its FWD, and just leave it FWD.

I love both my S14's & my 3000gt vr4, you will probably be happier with the 240, but the vr4 is pretty much bullet proof from the factory. The bottom end handles more than 700hp and a few people have swapped to v8's check out 3si.org if you want to see whats out there.

Thanks for link man but i think i am going to stay with my 240. The stealth/3000gt is just way to much. My 240 is going to be enough no need in compound the prob. But thanks anyway.

matter of fact ive been considering this swap myself. i talked to the owner of hinson supercars and he said for him to do the swap it would be around 10-15,000 thats engine included. But since i bought my supra i have no need for a v8, i just slapped a boost controller on it and man is it awsome.

I used to be a member on 3SI quite a few years back. I was thinking of going with a Stealth when I got back from Japan but I stayed Nissan. Anyway, the downfall isn't the motor, its the transmission. They don't like gobs of power. I've read horror stories about guys blowing up trannies with 500whp. Not that 500 isn't quite a bit mind you...it's just the reason you don't see really high hp GT's or Stealths around.

Oh and they weigh about as much as my garage does....with my 240 in it
