Hello everyone. I have a small dilemma . I have two LSD rear ends in the garage I have at my disposal. Let me give you guys a little background on the car.

1972 Datsun 510 S14 Sr20det engine w/ transHKS gt2835r turbocustom intercooler/ radiator etc etc

Anyway the rear ends are from a 88 nissan 300zx turbo. One is a VLSD and the other is a clutch pack type. I am going to make custom axles for either one by using the original CV on the inside with custom axles and porsche CV at the other end from driveshaftshop.com .

So my question is as follows. Is there any advantage to one over the other ?

The car will not be a track slut and will only be driven spiritedly on occasion. Maybe a trip or two to the 1/4 and a couple of to buttonwillow.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Don't waste the time on a viscous.

viscous= smooth, unnoticable engagement. till it wears down, then you have to replace it. no rebuild, just replace.clecth= still pretty smooth(it is oem) reliable locking that you will notice, but wont get anoyed. 100% rebuildable to keep on enjoying.

its possible to destroy that viscous in less then three lounches, its also possible to have it last a year, just no way to tell

i vote for the clutches
