The ONLY S13's (in the USA) with LSD are the 91-93 SE Fastbacks with the Super Hicas option.

My 90 base coupe has LSD ;) (from a 94 J30)

The answer that doesnt vary is go outside and do a burnout, or jack up the rearend and start spinning one wheel.

don't LSD hinder some racing styles? like it's probably good for drag racing, but what about drifting, and like X-country???

Actually put the car in gear with the motor off and start spinning one wheel. Without the driveshaft locked in place, you may get varying results. And while no one has said this, there is a misconception about the just looking for the opposite wheel to turn the same direction. Open and VLSD's both will spin in opposite directions when you do this. The VLSD will just be harder to turn.

actually an LSD is one of the most imporetant thing to have to do any worth wile doing drift . if you didn't have it you would only be loseing speed on the turns , drag racing you would actually lose some pick up speed cause your engine now has to turn 2 tires i am not sure about x - country maybe someone else can take that one

Drifting is better controlled and easier to perform with an LSD. With an open diff, only the inside wheel will want to spin. So you would have to put enough lateral load on the outside tire to over come the grip as opposed to adding power and just breaking traction. Adding lateral grip would require more momentum, which you might not have as much of exiting a turn than entering. It can still be done, but would require more modulation and may be a bear to keep going or control.

That sounds really really wrong to me. If it is worse to have 2 wheels turning why wouldnt drag cars just have one wheel in the rear. If your car produces so little HP that you only need one wheel to put it to the ground you shouldnt be racing your geo metro.

And also dont worry about getting a super-HICAS 240sx. The infiniti J30 limited slip differential bolts up perfectly for around $350. Find yourself a 240sx w/o VLSD and add it after you buy it.

95' and up J30 diff. should fit perfect. The differential is just another nissan diff. so it will be fine. Also you are swapping the whole differential not just the gears so it wont be too difficult of a swap.

or how about, "drag racing you would get increased traction, therefore a better hole shot and shorter 1/4 times because you won't have one wheel spinning and not pushing you. it would take a lot more power to break 2 tires loose."
