Lsd??

I looked at the 240sx.org FAQ section and looked at the things that would tell me if the car had an LSD, but the car i'm looking at (95) has an F and - in the model # but it also has an A, C, and an e, So how am i to know whether the car has an LSD or not??!?!

i doubt it does because ive had a 95 and have a 96 now and i dont, but if you want to know theres a good way to find out. do a stand still burnout, if you have an automatic, step on the brake about half way, drop in 1 and step on it, just keep the brake down enough to stay still. if you have a stick, rev up to about 5000rpm, pop the clutch out and quickly step on the brake, holding it just enough to keep still. burnout till you smoke for a couple seconds, then let off the brake and drive off. iff you cant tell from which side the smokes coming out, go back and look at the skid marks, there should only be one big one, and maybe a real small one. that means you dont have lsd. most likely you dont and you'll probably burn on the right tire, due to the weight on the driver side. but thats a good way to tell. if your not skilled enough yet to do this, try it in water.

i could be wrong (someone correct me if i am), but i don't think that any USDM S14s came with LSD.

Many of them came with VLSD. It was not standard equipment, and most people obviously decided not to get the option, but many did. They are hard to find.. I luckily stumbled onto mine!

S14: Checking for LSD using Car's Model number

Find the car's identification plate on the firewall, passenger side.

Check digit 18 in the model # (not the VIN!).

For Feb '94 - July '95: A, C, or E, = LSD

F, or "-" = NO LSD

For July '95 - July '96: A, C, or F = LSD

B, D, or "-" = NO LSD

It is ONLY the 18th digit that will indicate VLSD or not. There is no way that digit 18 is an F,A,C,E, and - all at the same time. I believe the the 18th digit is the last digit in the model number... but count them just to be sure!

Again..... only look at the 18th digit!
