If you intend to use it for wheeling, an LSD will always be preferable over an open diff, even in diminished condition. For street, the Pathfinder LSDs for the years you listed were generally weak by Nissan standards on older/other truck/SUV models. Rebuilding the diff may be out of the question if Nissan discontinued all the pieces. Last I checked, I depleted the supply on a few pieces a couple years ago.
Assuming the gears ratios are the same between your trucks, the swap is relatively simple. Drain the diff, slide the axle shafts out a little (disconnect brake lines, undo some nuts, pull), and pull the 3rd member. If the gears are not the same, it gets a little more complicated depending on which ratio you prefer, if you're 2wd or 4wd, and what you intend to use the truck for.
