LSD Question

i tried searching and can't come up with the result but i did recall reading about it on here...... how can i tell if it's an vlsd. ....it does not have a orange sticker but the dude i bought it from say it does.... i turn the differential and realize the shaft spins in different direction just like the open diff..... should it do this???? i might do the burnout technique, i already tried the both tire in air spinning and it went different direction.... thanks for any help

different direction = no posi... sometimes its hard to tell with a VLSD because it is activated by the fluid. If it is in the car then you shoudl have no problems telling if it works (which is more important that if it is a vlsd, as some dont work :p).... burnouts, cornering...etc

However it should rotate in the same direction and have MORE resistance that an open diff. Just cause it doesn't, doesn't disclude it, it could be just VERY worn (which is enough for me ot not want one anyway)...

so you're not sure either....if a lsd is that worn, would it show symptons of being like a open diff.... i might take it back to that dude and get my refund..... i notice there is no sticker and then when he turn it, it went the opposite direction but he still insist that it is.... i'll try the burnout technique, and take it back to him if i'm not satisfy with the result....thanks for the info...
