What is better for track GT racing (cornering) a LSD or a standard diff.

Wouldn't the obvious answer be a 2 way LSD?

no, because some people think a 2 way is too aggressive. a 1.5 way would be good for track or an HLSD or even a standard VLSD would be good for light track use if the budget is tight. either way, an LSD is better than an open diff on the track.

Thanks for the answers,

PS: If it was obvious to me I would not have asked!!

What is the diff between the HSLD and VSLD and can I bolt it into my 1990 240SX.

Thanks

HLSD-Helical Limited Slip Differential, found in the S15 spec R or something, whatever the top of the line is. do a search to get more info. uses worm gears to transfer torque.

VLSD-Viscous LSD, the LSD in all RWD nissans (option on the 240sx, standard on everything else) from skylines, j30s, Zs, Qs, 240s, etc. there are quite a few versions so search for that too. uses viscous clutch packs to transfer torque.

Thanks to you for answering, does anyone know if I can bolt the VLSD straight into my 1990 240sx, stock transmission and rear end.

Thanks :ylsuper

yes, lots of people know if it can or not, and you would be able to find out by searching.

or i could just tell you. yes it will. but search anyway, like i said, there are a few versions and some work better than others.
