I've got a choice. I can replace my current exhaust with the N1 Duals I've been wanting forever (my current exhaust is a little rusted and makes a lotta rattling sounds from the resinator), OR I can buy one of pdm-racing's s13 VLSDs. (check em out here: http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/sspecials.html on the bottom).

I REALLY want both, but I can only afford one of the two right now... watcha guys think?

PS I know the website says there arent any more VLSDs left, but they just got one in- I'm first on the waiting list ;)

it seems like you want the N1 more than the lsd, so you should get what you really want first. As for the LSD, don't even bother wasting that much money for it. I rather get a nismo for the price their offering. I'm guessing they decide to raise the price because they made it look new.

That's my thought too. A good rule of thumb is to replace broken stuff before you upgrade other parts. Your open diff is working just fine, so go with the exhaust.

LSD would be my choice. Do you already have an aftermarket exaust system and it is just old or you running stock? If you already have a system you might just put a new muffler on and save some money.

I would go with the exhaust, the LSD really won't do much for you except leave 2 blackmarks instead of one

I think it depends on what you want to do with your car. If you really wanna drift and have some damn good fun, buy an LSD. If you wanna gain a few hp, fix something that was broken, and alert the cops, buy an exhaust. Personally, I'd get the LSD, but that's just me and me wants to drift...

LSD. Improve the dynamic handling and driving characteristics first.

If you're going to install yourself I'd go with exhaust, much easier takes less time. Besides VLSD isn't active all the time, i'd rather save up for a clutch type LSD.

If you just have to buy something right now, get the exhaust. I was looking into getting a vLSD but after doing a bunch of research, it turns out that they pretty much suck. After a while, the fluid breaks down and then the LSD starts to lock up in weird ways that you really don't want it to lock up.

I cant imagine that they're THAT unreliable. Why would Nissan put a VLSD on a production car if it was known to fail that easially? They'd have product callbacks like every 5 minutes.

If the fluid is breaking down in weird ways, cant you just change it...?

Are you talking about the viscous fluid inside the sealed VLSD unit itself?

fiznat it sounds like you NEED the exhaust but you want the VLSD also. Get what you need first IMHO

Is that so? I just got a VLSD. No big deal though. I'm planning to get a KAAZ or Quaife LSD for my open diff.

that's a hard decision...but if you want to take off on people, get the lsd. the exhaust doesn't really add much except noise.

If you don't already have a hotshot header (around $375 retail)that will make a much bigger difference than an exhaust.

yeah but Ive got a stock engine... I think I'd feel kinda stupid running a fatty exhaust on my factory KA24DE, wouldnt you? That's basically the only thing stopping me from getting the exhaust right now.

Still, it'd be better to wait for the turbo upgrade for some nice-sized 80mm (or even 95mm - Apexi GT :) ) exhuast then having to run around town with a gigantic exhuast on a N/A that was desigend for a turbo. Plus, I was looking at that PDM deal, seems good to me. Too bad they have none in stock right now...

I worked for Nissan over 7 years and I never saw one VLSD go bad. Or I have never herd anyone say they had a bad VLSD.

I say exhaust. Who cares if you are running a stock motor. It will look good, sound good, add a little power, and fix something that needs to be fixed. The LSD doesnt' do anything for just daily driving. Your open diff works and you can still get sideways very easily with it, so just get the exhaust. It is a necesity, not want.
