Ok I asked NAMETAKENOW and he gave me some great Ideas about this, and came to the conclusion the syncros may be off or the previous owner maybe sucked at first gear, or of course maybe the clutch slipping dont know but that sounds pretty convincing. but I was wanting to know what is up with my car.

Now to what its doing

First I revved to 3k and popped the clutch, no wheel spin. I thought that was strange so I tried again, still no response.I revved it to 5K and still no wheel spin. Just a great lauch that is much faster than my old 240. Could this possibly be a problem with my car or do I have the goodness of LSD (crossing fingers).

ALSO I know how to drive and I could spin my tires all day on my old 240 so I know its not me.

I gathered that maybe his 1st gear syncros or the gear itself might be bad, from talking to him, as he only has problems with clutch slipping in 1st. I think the lack of wheel spin is a welcome to the world of LSD. Even my FWD takes a lot of effort to get wheelspin (more than a chirp) from, especially when the LSD is good and warm.

Since the clutch itself is slipping, his clutch may be bad too, but if it was bad it'd slip in more than 1st gear, so...

If you were dumping from 5k, LSD or not, you would get wheel spin. Sounds like a clutch.

How many miles are on the car? Need more info......

I'd say clutch too.

Just bog the can in 4th or 5th and floor it. If the RPMs shoot up, clutch is slipping. If the RPMs stay low, something else.

Clutch was my first guess, as I know wheelspin can come from a 2-3k clutch dump even with LSD, but I was trying to think of everything possible and then narrow it down.

yeah I tried those test and the clutch doesnt slip AT ALL. The mph goes up everytime with little rpm if I do that.

I cant figure it out, the transmission seems tighter than my old one and the clutch is shorter than my old one. I have good tires on there which might explain the reason for not spinning at 5k. Thats if I have lsd. I noticed earlier I got a little spin when I first started driving it. but im still not sure. im going to go jack it up and spin the tire to see if the other spins the same.

4k should still get some nice wheelspin, I've never dumped my car from that high, but 3k gets a short squeal and a nice couple hops, so 4k it should spin real nicely...

Dude if its an s13, you might as well get a new clutch kit for it. New throwout bearing, release bearing, etc etc. Then you will definately know you have nothing wrong with your drivetrain.

if anything its the clutch. First gear doesnt even have a synchro, so thats out. Synchros going bad would cause you to grind into gear when you are shifting.

its the stupid #$*&%^#@&#^#$%%$#%@@ clutch. It finally decided to get worse today. I did the rev test again and sure enough in 5th gear goin 3 VVVRRRROOOOM. now im noticing (SP) it slipping more and more today. Would it be bad to take my old clutch out of my old 240 and use that????

Used clutch.... as long as it's in better condition than this one, probably not a bad idea til you can get a new setup.
