Did anyone put one in? If so, how did it improve your vert?

I want one-

like any car that you put a lsd on it will improve your traction by spinning both wheels... on of the first upgrades that should be done

The same way it would improve any 240... or rwd car in general... vert isn't a special case, tried searching?

Of course I searched. I guess i'm asking a personal question, not a technical one.

If anyone has put an LSD on your vert, would you mind sharing with me your experience?

In theory, LSD is a great idea in a vert.

I can't tell you for sure since I've actually never driven a 'vert without LSD... but here's my theory...

Since the 'vert is a little less rigid structurally, we suffer from chassis flex. If you can distribute the force to the ground more equally on both sides of the car it should help a bit with accel, and turning under accel.

Better to send power to the ground through both rear wheels rather than just one corner. Sending it to only one corner would encourage more flex and instability on the chassis.

Of course it will help a lot in a drag race as well because you will get two tires worth of traction rather than one off the line.

Were not talking drastic change here... but it may be noticable. When you get up to 200+ hp at the wheels.. you can definitely tell the differance.

ooh that sounds really good. Im really thinking of getting one and installing it as my first "big" mod. In Hawaii, the welded diff is very popular because of the drifting nonsense and they wanna cheat.

There's only a handful of verts here (like I can count them on one hand). I wanna be the sleeper! I love cruising in my car but once in a while I need to take a few turns like I got a purpose (like when those giant lifted pickups are tailing you).

Right now I still haven't even gotten an air filter, new spark plugs or anything performance wise haha.

falling, my car comes out of the shop on thursday, with an LSD. I've never driven the vert with an LSD, so remind in a few days and I'll give you an update.

I've got a KAAZ LSD in my 1993 vert. It was installed about 4 months ago and is one of the best mods I've done to the car. Highly recommended!

P.S. Don't weld the diff. Spend the money and pick up a good one or even hunt around for a used one. Most if not all LSD's are rebuildable so it's money well spent.

LSD Review Day 2

Item: Stock 240 LSD (came from a hatch I believe)

Verdict: Wow. Get it. Soon. Make it your first mod. You will need it to drift anyway. Other than that, I would say that the characteristics of the car has changed quite a bit (note: I put the Tein's in at the same time). So I need a bit more time to get feedback...I already feel the springs might be a bit stiff...anyways...as I do more "carving" I will let you know.

For now, its fun to have an LSD. Go for it!

Sounds good!!

I've been trying to find out how much the average price for one is here... or how hard it is to get one. The only thing for reference so far is that I might be able to get a j30 lsd for 350ish...

I'd rather have one out of a 240 though so theres no ABS shaft shortening nonsense.

Avg price on NJ streets is $200. Most shops will install it for 200-300. Check out the Nico For Sale boards from time to time and even check Zilvia. Zilvia has a bit more active sale section (sorry AZ - didn't mean to throw other site names out there...I had a reason though)

PS: Zilvia sucks (yeah right...half you guys here are members - with same usernames!)

Yeah I do scope out the classifieds here... but the main deterence for something such as an LSD is the price of shipping it 3000 miles (or more) to here...

I don't think they are too popular here so it shouldn't be that bad.

Thanks for the info though! Sounds like a blast, enjoy.

I put a low mileage S14 SE one on mine but once I added the sticky azenis tires its been doing excessive peglegs again.
