Does anyone know if using 75w90 instead of 80w90 could harm the lsd. I have a nismo 1.5 for a 91 240sx. I put in 75w90 instead because it is all i can find in full synthetic. Is it better to do this for full synthetic or should i just use 80w90. I just want to make sure it doesn't hurt the lsd or make it wear out prematurely.

Also, if your wheels and tires total diameter is smaller than stock does that make a difference. I just buy used tires for the rear and the ones on their right now are slightly smaller than stock. It seems like when i have these on the inside wheel squeels when doing really low speed sharp corners.

Also, does anyone know how to get a rebuild kit for when it does wear out?

Thanks,Rob

dude, is that really solberg? cool.

75-90 should be fine if its full synthetic. smaller tires by width wont really matter. smaller tires by sidewall(aspect ratio) will give you a lower gear ratio. this means higher torque with less speed. used tires are one thing but PLEASE tell me you are using the same two tires with approx the same amount of tread. wierd tires will wear your diff. i have no idea where to get rebuild parts for that thing but i believe it is made by kaaz.

Yep, thats Solberg. And the new Sti is sweet (well, what isn't when its in the hands of Solberg). He was doing donuts hanging out the car with the door open and one hand and foot out. He also floored it and hung it sideways into a donut about 3 feet from a McLaren F1 that was waiting to take off in front of him. He had to ebrake it to drift it, but it was awesome. That sig is a small cutout from a giant poster sized pic i have framed, plus i got some pics with him outside the car, and autograph. I still can't beleive i got to ride around a track with him.

And i do of course use matching tires, i'm too freaked out about hurting the diff after spending so much money on it. I buy used tires form Big O, and two smaller diameter ones were all they had, but these tires seem to squeal like i said. Yeah, the gear ration changes, also makes the speedo read a little high from the gear change, but as long as the diff is okay, i'm okay with it.

Thanks for the response, i'm a little worried about getting new clutch discs for the diff when it does wear out. I've asked about it before and no one answered. And if you don't know how to get it, then i think i'm in trouble.

Thanks,Rob

I'm hoping your joking right? Right? WRC driver for Subaru. Hey, NISTECH, do you know where i can get a rebuild kit for the diff. If s13sr20chris doesn't know then you do, and if you don't, i'm screwed.

Thanks,Rob

Out of curiosity, where was that? Personally I'm not much a fan of Solberg, but more a fan of Loeb.

I wasent joking I dont follow the racing scene much.

I do not know where you could find it. Have you tried the dealer to see if they offer a kit for it?

Oh, i guess that would explain it. But he's pretty famous, i just assumed most people had at least heard of him.

Oh well, anyhow, in response to 180fan, that was at the Car and Driver 50th anniversary party at Indianapolis Raceway Park. I've always been a big solberg fan but of course this year Loeb is unstoppable, how many records has he set now, like 3?

Solberg was the only driver there i had ever even heard of, but there were alot of cool cars, Porsche Carrera GT, McLaren F1 as i mentioned, and a few other race cars. Plus you could race autocross in a bunch of cool cars too, i drove a new viper 4 laps.

I actually haven't asked my dealer yet, simply because when i ordered it they didn't even have the right tools (and from talking to them probably not the knowledge)to install it. I also asked them for some nismo gear oil like what shipped with the diff but they couldn't figure out how to do that, and tried to sell me some super high viscosity something w140. I also tried emailing nissan asking about it but that was completely useless as i expected it would be. Oh well, i've still got a while to worry about it, thanks.
