lsd knowledge

Well I jacked up my 97 J30 in the rear with both wheels off the ground and I turned one wheel and the other went in the opposite direction, then I put the car in D and then the wheels spun in the same direction. Which one means that I have LSD? I saw one while searching but there was no definitive answer, Hopefully this one can end with an infinitive answer and not a bunch of "I think so's"

If its "do I have LSD" then yes .All J30's came with Limited slip rear ends.

i think he wants to know if his LSD is working or not. not that if he has it or not.there is a way of finding out by jacking it up and spinning the wheels but i'm not sure how to tell.

Not always true. You can have an open diff and still fish-tail.

You can drop one wheel off the pavement and then light them up. The one WITH the traction should still spin and not just the one in the dirt.

You can still burn both wheels even with an open diff just not every time. If the surface is about the same for each wheel and enuf power is applied, both will spin.
