I bought a nismo 2 way lsd from jspec.com and on there site it said it was for a 89-94 240sx but the guy i was going to have install it said it is the wrong one cause it says r200 on the instructions and he said I have a r180 diff(I think) anyways i know nothing about diff's and lsd installs so can anybody tell me if this is right? Do i need to get a r200 diff to put my lsd in or is there another way to make sure the lsd I have is for a r200 or does it just say that on all the instructions( I hope). Also if i have to get a r200 diff it will bolt right up to the car right? my lsd came with the axle shafts, bearings, etc. bascially everything needed even the fluid. Thanks in advance.

I've never seen an R180 diff on a USDM S13.

I really do not want to give you the wrong answer, but I have never seen an R180 diff on a USDM 240SX. What I tell you is only from personal experience and doesn't apply as a full answer. I've only seen R180's in the older cars like 240z, 260z, and 280z (last made in 1976 I think). If I wasn't mistaken, but why would nissan want to put such an old diff into a car that can support the R200 especially if majority of the other 240sx's, if not all, have R200's? Possibly take a look at your differential casing and then check pictures of S13 R200 diffs (vlsd) to see if they are the same basic size. My guess is you have an R200 and the other guy is wrong. Or I can be totally wrong and you might have a rare 240 that has the dumb R180 in it. Only way to know is to go and check on it. Take some pics of under the car and show it on the forums to help us better figure it out. I have an S13 on jackstands currently with open diff and can easily compare a pic for you to tell you if its a R200 or not.

If you have a USDM 240sx you have a R200 If you have a JDM Silvia you have a R200V if you have a 240sx with ABS you have a R200V so you have to have a R200 because nothing else will fit your car.

R180's were found in the old Z cars. It is also found in some early S13 Canadian spec cars (manufactured 88-90'). Also, it can be found in some early JDM S13's with the CA18DE.
