I am kinda embarassed to ask, and of course I did search "only a lil bit of search, I am busy and lazy, bad combo, lol".

Here is the question.....

what happens when a lsd goes out? does it just sit there and do nothing? i noticed that both of my back tires would spin when i was stuck in my driveway today "icy driveway" but the driver side would only spin if i reved her high enough.

any ideas guys....please no flaming.....lol!

hmmm, that is interesting. I suppose it could be because the viscous fluid is getting a bit too hot and is allowing one wheel to spin.

this is purely speculation though...

Yup, blowing an LSD leaves you with 2 situations, either you completely blow your rear end, in which case the car would not be driveable, or it gradually transforms into an open diff. Im assuming its because the fluid gets tired, the clutches burn out, or something along those lines.

would new fluid help? i always 'thought' that when the fluid got hot is when it started working, but I suppose it could get too hot and begin to not work...almost like brake fade. How often are you guys changing LSD oil? I do mine once a year now.

I've heard that the viscous fluid can go bad.
