The stock differential is viscous limited slip differential, which is a sealed fluid coupling that creates the "lockup." Changing the fluid that is actually ties the two wheels together isnt possible, however changing the differential gear oil is.
80w-90 or 75w-90 gear oil, it takes slightly less than two quarts, so you'll need two quarts. I'm sure other people have used other weights. I know Redline oil is a common one, mobil1, etc, all good stuff.
Remove drain plug (on bottom left of diff), drain oil out, replace drain plug, remove fill plug (on left side for NA, right side for TT if I remember correctly) then fill her up! Pretty straight forward
I'm not sure there is a standard interval to change it, but if you dont recall or know when it was changed, best idea would be to change it, my TT is due for a change as well.
