LSD Fuild Change Question

Hey guys, I have a 93 300zx convertible (auto). I just have a quick question about the LSD. How often should you change the LSD fluid? And how would you do it? What type of fluid would I need? Also is there a write up for this?

The stock differential is viscous limited slip differential, which is a sealed fluid coupling that creates the "lockup." Changing the fluid that is actually ties the two wheels together isnt possible, however changing the differential gear oil is.

80w-90 or 75w-90 gear oil, it takes slightly less than two quarts, so you'll need two quarts. I'm sure other people have used other weights. I know Redline oil is a common one, mobil1, etc, all good stuff.

Remove drain plug (on bottom left of diff), drain oil out, replace drain plug, remove fill plug (on left side for NA, right side for TT if I remember correctly) then fill her up! Pretty straight forward

I'm not sure there is a standard interval to change it, but if you dont recall or know when it was changed, best idea would be to change it, my TT is due for a change as well.

Couple of quick notes and corrections.

1) ALWAYS open the fill plug first. If you can't get it open, no big deal, bring it to a shop and have them do it. But if you open the drain plug first, then can't get the fill plug open, you're fuct.

2) Redline 75W-90 is worth the trip to your local performance store to get it.

3) I don't recall the interval, I do mine every 3 years or 12K miles. I don't drive it very often, but when I do, I REALLY drive her. The interval suggested by Nissan may be listed in the FSM, which you can find here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/300zx/
