Need to know is there a manufacter that makes a lsd for these cars if not whats my best using a 240sx lsd being that they have the same r200 diff only difference being that the 240 has a taller final drive gear at 4.11 versus the Z having a 3.7 final drive gear ratio....Really want to drop an lsd in the rear so any guidance would be useful

Use the 240sx open one, swap your gear on

The 240sx came with an open diff in a short nose housing, unless it's the se which had the VLSD (junk) and requires different cv shafts and companion flanges to swap over. 87.5-89 300zx turbo models came with the r200 CLSD (unless it was the 88ss which had the R200 VLSD) which is a direct bolt in to all Z31's. If you want to buy a new LSD everyone makes them, Cusco, Kaaz, OS Giken etc. Just be ready to spend.

Ebay, Z31 forums, Junkyards, used ones sell for around $800 which is a lot less than the $1500 new aftermarket unit that you then still need to swap into your housing.

I meant if you buy an aftermarket LSD, get one made for a 240sx "open" diff... as evildky said, the VLSD units use different style axle engagement, you'd need to find the impossible to get Shiro model axles or make hybrid axles using the 240sx stubs

Hard to say what's the most cost effective these days, a new LSD from tomei or cabonetic is around $1k...
