I am wondering if anyone on here knows how I can find out if I have a oem lsd. My car is a 1995 240sx SE. It acts like it has one sometimes and other times it acts like it doesnt. Here is why I think I have one-It leaves 2 tire marks. When I get sideways it jerks back staight? It handles well on turns.

Does anyone know of anything on the car that would tell me if it has one. It confuses me because I dont know a for sure way to tell if it has the oem. Either way I am going with an aftermarket one.

Look at the housing.. should have an orange sticker that says somethin about LSD

I think thats right.. other way to tell is to turn one of the wheels.. the other should turn in the same direction I believe; if it goes the opposite way then it's an open differential.

Hesgot your answer. In the words of Bob Barker, "spin the wheel!"

The cover has a dark yellow sticker on it, and as for the spinning wheels thing- I can turn one wheel and the other one will spin the same way but it takes a second. This car is confusing.

LSD and ABS were available as a package on both base and SE models in 1995.If you have ABS, then you have an LSD. But the spinning wheel thing is the surest way to tell.

Nope, the only S13's that had LSD's were Hicas Editions, and they also had ABS. They didn't do Hicas until 1991, so I guess your out of luck. The only exception is some Canadian models came with an LSD I believe.

Was the package with abs and the lsd together or could you get one or the other. Because my car doesnt have abs. I jacked my car up off the ground and spun the right wheel and the left one was trying to spin the same way but it would just "jump" forward then stop. I also tried it with the car in gear and running. At idle in 1st gear only one wheel would spin but you could give it gas and both would spin.

I will sell you it after I get the rest of the money to get an aftermarket one. If it is even an lsd. Again I dont have a clue. It has the characteristics of an lsd but it also has some of an open diff.

The lsd and abs were offered both separately and as a package. I got screwed out of the diff on my new one. currently looking for a clutch type anyway.

Wait, so ALL S14 SEs (95) came with LSD? And since they offered it seperately it can be: LSD no ABS?

I looked on my diff. cover and I dont see any orange sticker on the back or on the bottom of it and i cant get a good view of the top. Could you tell if it was an lsd by taking the back cover off. I need to put a new gasket on it anyways. Thanks for all your answers.

I bought a 98 240sx SE.Had no abs and no lsd.

It has one off of a 300zx na now.

So the SE s14 does not always have a vlsd.

I believe the only ABS car without a VLSD is the 93 vert LE. EVERY other ABS car came with a diff, and none came stock with VLSD without ABS.

The only US S13's that came with VLSD was the Hicas and the 92/93 vert (with ABS)

I'm sorry to inform you but not ALL Canadian 240SX came with a VLSD. I drive a 89 240SX open diff.
