Check out this lexus v8 performance site.http://www.lextreme.com/

LS400 supercharger kit.

275-295RWHP

Vortech superchargercustom intercooler

Some other nice parts as well. There are a few other sites with some nice upgrades for the V8 lexi. Hopefully we can get something together for Q, before too long.

Between the LS and the SC400/GS400, Lexus sold 3 times as many V8 in cars as Infiniti did.

True. It's nice to see people modifying the big LS as well.

Well I don't know about you...but 275-295 RWHP is good, but I would think that they would break the 300 mark with a supercharger.

Thanks for finding this website as I have been thinking long and hard about a personalized license tag for my car as it would only be appropriate after doing all these mods....it will be "Qextasy"...similar to the Lextasy as per the website. Now don't anybody go and take my license tag name here in Florida. :)

Since the older [non VVTi before 1998] were lucky to put down 195-200 RWHP thru the open [non VSLD] diff. The engine really didn't change internally from 1990-1997.

295 RWHP is roughly 375-385 flywheel HP from 4.0 liters that is taxing since the engine rods, pistons and crank bearings are not that strong.

The 1998 with VVTI and the new 5 speed was the rocket until the displacement bump up to 4.3 liters .

I've been driving a 2001 LS430 for the last few days...and it's a nice ride. It will take my 95Q in a race. Mainly because of the 5 speed transmission. I like the Q handling better. (but I have tockios and new upper links and tension rods.) I noticed today when I started to drive the Q again that I was really jurking the car when I touched the brakes (as I was used to the lexus)I have this feeling that the Q "applies" power to the brakes and a higher level than the Ls430, and that's why our rotors warp so fast.

okay...now I understand why only 275 rwhp with a supercharger. I did not realize that the older ones did not really have all the much under the hood. I knew that they were slower, but I did not think that much slower.

Measure/weight the giant/ ultra thick rotors and 4 piston/2 rear calipers on your LS430...........you'll see what the Q needs to avoid warps. Notice the rotor air directors on ther backing plate to scoup up air at highway speed.

With my 90 Q [JWT ecu] it is nip and tuck with the 98 and later LS........if the driver knows what he is doing. They all get me in zero to 60 but it is even by 75-85 and I'm only a car length or 2 ahead in the quarter.

Q45tech,

What happened when they moved to 4.3 liters? It sounds like they got slower or something.

They realized [what we all know HP is illusionary] and a flat high torque amount will accelerate equal or better than a highly tuned peaky 4.0 liter.

The 4.3 has ULEV lower emissions, notice the torque went up as the HP dropped [speced] at a lower rpm.

Also they had to equal the MB 4.3 beat the Audi 4.2 and get closer to MB 4.4 for marketing purposes.

Wonder why we haven't seen the 5.6 truck/NASCAR engine yet.
