Not exactly a Nissan, but will be going into a 240Z.

Some crazy guys are working on building V12 LS engines in their garage- and they're serious about it. They've got the welding, oil, coolant systems figured out and are working on manifolds and heads. Check it out!

Not in a "I'm being a d!ck way," but where is the potential lawsuit? They're using the engines in a way not as designed by GM. Its highly unlikely that there are any patents against what they're doing.

Back in the 60's they were mating a couple of GM's 305E's.
I had one.
Its a 5 liter V6 with a HUGE amount of torque in the "Granny" Gear.
I can only imaging 2 of them in a tractor !!
That LS V12 in a 240 would be CRAZY ! :ohno:

So let me ask the dumb question, are they just taking an extra LS block, cutting it in half and putting it on the back?

Yes. And making large V4's with the remainder.

I guess that begs the question, why aren't they just putting 2 together and making a V16?

You can use the center V4 section, but can only use one front V2 and one back V2. It would take three V8s to make one V16.

Intake and exhaust passage design, manifold stuff blah blah. The fact that they're cutting and splicing existing blocks to make them would prolly prevent any lawsuits. It was more of a "everyone sues anyone for anything fun" comment than anything.

If they cut the back 2 off the front block, and the front 2 off the rear block they might be making it work like that.

Nope. the front and rear V2 sections of the second block have to be chopped off to mate them. You would still have a V12.

Actually reading the thread, they cut it mid cylinder and sleeved the block to make it seal.

FYI, that was the mock up test block, not a useable block.

Haha glad someone else actually read that. Thats pretty awesome. I bet mating it perfectly flat is the most stressful part. Good luck is all I got to say, Ill take a V4 long block for my civic off their hands.

While I like the idea of doing it just to do it.... there are so many other easier ways to make the same amount of power.

If you need a V12 to put in a replica P-51, you're left with little options.

I actually think Roush (yeah, the FORD Mustang guys) will rebuild a Merlin for your NAA Mustang if you have the funds.

Taunus V4. Went on to grow two more cylinders and spawn the indestructible but urefined Cologne V6 which Ford UNFATHOMABLY decided to use as the base engine for the 2005 Mustang nearly fifty years after its introduction.

The one in the video sounds a LOT like an old VW flat four...not sure if that's how they're supposed to sound, though, as I've never heard one in person (they only came stateside in a few Saabs).

P-51 Mustang would be in my first 10 purchases if my numbers ever were to come up in lotto... (flying lesson also in there)

I'd get a P-38. Dual turbocharged Allison V12s, please. Oh and five guns because DIE DIE DIE.

You give up range and ability to turn for slight speed and rate of climb vs the Mustang. The nose cannons are cool but I would still love a Mustang! P-51 Bad Angel is at the PIMA air and space museum in Tucson I take my kids to visit her. My oldest has a RC p-51 that I swapped in a bigger motor and better batteries on. He also has a couple model Mustangs.
