LS1 swap question: 1991 240SX, Tremec T-56 from C5 Corvette?

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

So I've got a Tremec T-56 from a C5 Corvette laying around along with a 1991 Nissan 240SX hatchback. I want to do the LS1 swap to the 240SX. Will the T-56 transmission from the C5 Corvette work or must I have one from a F-body (Camaro/Firebird/TransAm) instead?

No it won't work or no you don't need one from a Camaro/Firebird?

No the T-56 from a C5 Corvette will not work. You must use the T-56 from a LS1 Camaro/Firebird.

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

One is built/design/enginered.... to be attatched to engine, one to the differential. Unless you had a lot more of that vette for parts, that trans is very useless. IMOA You can sell that and buy one for about the same price though. Be sure to get all you can with it, yoke, shifter, .....

unless you can find a way to mount the trans @ the back of the 240, then no.

the C5 vette's trans is in the rear, transaxle.

a Fbody trans goes @ the back of the engine, so it'd be easier to use.
