still havent started it up or driven it but the sound should raise the dead. if these cars can handle drifting and all the abuse that comes with it, im sure it can handle an ls1. i actually am running the stock suspension and stock open diff for now. I will probably weld the diff or get one already done to use until i can afford a helical diff. i wont have to but will probably stitch weld the car around the struts and around high stress areas.

ps anyone know where i can get a welded diff that will just swap right in? im sick of working on this thing and swapping the guts would be a royal pain in the you know what.

AWESOME!

The best thing to do is a LS1 swap if you're looking at power gains over 400hp. You can do cams and air intake, and see easily 450. Slap on a supercharger bam, 550hp.

You can get all ur parts right here in america. The LS is lighter then a RB, and isn't impossible to fix when it breaks.

I definitly recommend this swap to anyone looking for 400+hp. RB's are hard to maintain considering they aren't from this country. You can get a crate LS1 with transmission for $6000. Slam it in, reflash ECU and good to go. Also, you can get a "Hot Rod" wire harness and plug in 3 things you need to power the LS. Get a converter for the MPH/RPM's and you're golden. I'm definitly going LS in the future. But i want to Turbo the KA before anything. I just can't pass up some good ol' turbo.

For doing it the right way, and actually thinking about what ur doing before you just "RB" another 240!

im a n/a guy so a supercharger or turbo is out of the question for me. but 450rwhp is middle of the road as far as heads and cam cars are concerned, there are quite a few ppl with over 500rwhp and 455rwtq with the stock bottom on 93 octane end its just nasty!! but give me 450rwhp and 2500 lbs any day of the week that should be good for mid tens at 130+mph if it can hook.

Was implying small *** mod's to a LS1 make a HUGE difference, as opposed to a 2.4liter. Heh.

Anyways, 130+ in the 10's huh?

Grab that traction and launch that baby.

hehe in time in time. im looking to set the car up for road racing, but thats downt he road when i can afford some legit coilovers and other suspension mods, a helical diff, etc. either way as soon as its running i'll post up a video and make a video of it driving. i just wanna see the looks on peoples faces as my little japanese car roars by sounding like a harley

How do like the daft kit did you have to put the engine in several times before you were able to finally mount it?

Thanks Chris

it was lowered into the chassis then we played with it for 15 mins and it bolted in. we had to use a floor jack and jack up the transmission as the engine is lowered into the chassis. if your considering the swap have at least $8-9000 to spend on it and allow at least a month to do it.

I would love to know how you got over 50 horses out of exhaust and air filter. THe ws6 cars only made like 330 horse at the flywheel. Not trying to rag on your car or anything. I was just saying thats unlikely, unless theres something I missed

I have an ls1 waiting in my garage for a miata by the way .

i dyno'd my trans am with an air lid and exhaust cut out, it put down 331/336. i have an 02 ls1 that comes with the ls6 intake manifold, i have longtube headers and full 3 inch exhaust, better air intake, and the car is also tuned aswell. it should be around where i estimated.

goto the dyno section of ls1tech.com its very common for full bolt on cars to put down anywhere from 340rwhp-370rwhp. there is a guy on those boards that has an 02 z06 completely stock internally engine puts down 396rwhp.

let me guess 98-2000 ls1 with ls1 intake and ur using exhaust manifolds?

remember the 2001-2002's came with the ls6 intake which is usually good for 15-20 rwhp over the ls1 intake manifold.

Very nice. What car did you get the engine out of?

Those mustang wheels are not that bad. I was thinking about buying the same ones for when i do my 5 lug swap. Just because i can get a good deal on a set.

people can hate all they want on the rustang wheels, they are temporary till i can afford enkei rpf-1's. i got all 4 with 90% tread left for $200 shipped......

i bought the engine from cleveland pick a part, its from an 02 camaro ss. they offer a one year warranty and im in the middle of having them replace my lifters cause one is making a $hit ton of noise.

I know this is a heated discussion but Stock LS1 vs Stock Rb26dett. What would happen? This summer 09 I'm doing forest service and I'm getting engine swap (and a new street bike hehe :p ) and I'm just wondering how a RB will do.

Forrest Service? What is that? And with this service you're getting an engine swap and a new bike? Why aren't there any Forests in South Florida! I gotta see if there's an Everglades service that pays that good.

Must be a high reading dyno, 2 close friends of mine with f-bodys made 340whp and 350whp dynojet. Both had a Tune, ls6 intake, long tubes, lid, cutout's. Only difference was one was a stalled auto, other was a 6spd.

And of course the ls6 cam make more power in the z06..

Not to bash or anything, just don't want all the other members thinking they'll make such high numbers without a cam upgrade.

Other than that, Lookin good!! Any pics of the Daft kit before you put it on?

dittoz7: it was $4000 for engine and transmission, comes with a year warranty.

GTR PRYDE: ive heard the R200 is actually more efficient then the 10 bolt rear end in the fbody's since it has lighter internals. i have long tubes, ls6 intake, 4" intake and K&n. its tuned and i have a single 3" bullet muffler dumped before the rear end. id say without a doubt 350+ rwhp is easy to do with my setup.
