I want an opinion here- my 89' 240 is my daily driver. I commute 40 miles one way to work and back daily. Will lowering my car with the Eibach sportlines and KYB AGX's create a situation where my car cannot be properly aligned? The alignment now is very close to perfect- and has been for many years- the least tire wear I have ever had with any vehicle. I want to lower the car for better handling and the look, but I don't want it to start eating tires because of it. Is an alignment absoulutely necessary right away after the springs are installed, or can it wait? What I guess I'm asking is does the act of installing the springs affect the geometry so much that it then has to be aligned to drive or is it a very small change? I bought a car once that had a "backyard" lowering job done on it- and spent good money after bad trying to get it aligned- I have stayed away from lowering since then. Please give me some opinions.H.

If you lower the car any more than about 1.5 inches, then you have serious alignment issues. You will have really bad camber in the rear, the only solution to which will be heavily modifying your stock RUCAs or buying aftermarket ones. Every droppped S13 I've ever seen has had this problem.

If you are serious about dropping your car, I would recommend being ready to invest in some new link components, especially if you are concerned with alignment.

Yea , you will need an alignment regardless of how much you lower your car. Anytime you adjust you ride height, the aligment has to be redone, even with coilovers. Also, if you loosen the strut bolts. You'll need an aligment aswell. Sportlines will decrease the life span of the struts shocks. Anything over 1 inch drop will throw the (kyb or tokico)setup out of wack. kyb and tokico sent a lot of time tuning the struts and shocks for a "near stock height setup" and you drop it too much and you blowout your struts in a yr. Tokico does make a shorter version for the 240 but no one on nico has showed an interest in them..............talk about idiots!!!!!!!!!!

kyb agx + sportlines, camber bolts, adjustable rear upper control arms -> awesome alignment (given you already have good alignment).

I run basically that setup (plus adj tension rods) and camber is no longer an issue. Ride is great compared to stock. Shocks will probably not last as long as they would on eiback pros, but will still probably outlast my 89 240sx. I've ridden them mostly on 1/2 or 3/4 dampening for most of last year and put it to full hard for a couple months, shocks still work great.

This is a tried and true setup. Many members have done this (either w/ sportline or pro kit). Tokico is a fine choice to, as are the koni yellows (don't know if they make for 240sx, don't remember).

How long shocks lasts also depends on how you drive your car. If you daily drive most of the time, they should be fine, even w/ 2" lowering (it's a lil less in reality w/ the sportlines). If you drive like a maniac, most shock/spring and even coilover setups will blow quickly.

No, this is my first set of aftermarket suspension setup, so I only know how they compare to the stock setup. All I know is they are not nearly as stiff as the k-sport coilovers (my friend w/ an integ put them in), and the adjustable setting on the shocks is enough for me to customize depending on how I feel for the day/week/etc.

i just bought some s.techs for my 91 coupe, i got kyb gr-2s...wish i woulda got the AGXs but i had some slightly more important expenses like car insurance and tires/oil change

they advertise as 1.5 in the front and 1.2 in the rearthe gr-2s are warrantied for no more than a 1.5 inch drop and the s.techs promise no more than a 5mm sag...i also plan to get a 4 wheel alignment after installing the springs, probably no longer than a week after

im guessing i should be cool for a good while, i dont really drive crazy but once in a while ill cruise along the twisty roads with my friends (maybe like once a week for 30 mins)

just wondering how long i should expect my shocks/struts to last on that setup, its a daily driver.....btw anyone else have this setup? what do u think about it? also, is there anything else i might need to buy in order to keep my susp. and alignment in good order?

any input is appreciated, thanks

Its hard to say how long theyll last. The more you baby them, the longer theyll last.Where did you see the max drop for GR-2s? I'm wondering what max drop is for AGXs??

Max drop under warranty is 1" or 1.5". If you read the lifetime warranty, they void it over that amount. Max doable? I probably wouldn't go lower than the sportlines since I think the dampening/spring rates and all that goodness get affected and your ride won't be as nice.

I've heard from other members who have run the agx for 5 years or so w/ no problems (but I don't know if it's w/ sportlines or pros) and they probably didn't drift to work and home every single day .

So, if you have pros + agx, you're set for life, even when they blow up, as long as you have something to ride on in the mean-time & the original receipt, kyb will hook you up.

I gotta question i've been meaning to ask for a long time... Is the drop rated from the base model?? Or the se model ??

I called tokico a month ago to ask about the j sports .. blah blah blah. And i was asking about how low of springs i could ran on the blues and they said not to go over a 1 inch spring. I've heard from others that the more the drop, the shorter they'll last. Tokico does sell d-spec and i assume they are the same thing as the jsports!
