Hey,
I'm looking for some info on lowering springs for my 2002 Q45. I just want to bring the front down about an inch. Most common I see are the swift springs.
Are these springs any good?
Will they work on OEM struts with the sport package?
I can't remember where I read it but one site said the OEM struts would fail prematurely with these lowering springs. Can anyone confirm?
Also where is a good place to buy some?
Anyone got some used ones to sell?
What other options are out there for lowering an F50 Q45?

Some ancient Q45 owners may have some California Cut springs from 2005-2006ish. Lowered our Q's very sweetly. Still have mine on the car though. Maybe someone will see this and remember they still have those springs. There were only a few.

Swift springs makes an excellent product, many coilovers offer upgrades to switft springs from their basic springs they offer.

Can anyone confirm that the swift springs will work with OEM struts?
Specifically that they will not cause the strut to fail cause of the different spring rate and stroke lenght?
ithaj0kai- what coilover options are out there for the F50 Q45?

As far as I know, any coilover made for the Y34 Q45 will also fit the F50.

Since I have the sport package I wanted to be able to utilize the sport button feature but I want to get the front end lower.
I was thinking I would just use swift lowering springs in the front and leave the rear alone.
My concern is that the swift springs will ruin the factory struts/shocks because of the stroke and spring rate.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks

to answer the premature fail question in short- Yes.

Anytime you change an OEM spring out for a shorter spring (Swifts are especially short), aftermarket or cutting factory spring, the OEM strut/shock faces failure. The OEM strut is designed to dampen the force according to that stroke and spring rate. When the stroke is shortened the strut cannot compensate for the increased need for dampening force. The strut will constantly bottom out during large bumps and dips in most cases. And if you have adjustable dampening from the factory, i can only imagine it would do more damage. Most cars can get away with a drop spring, but the drop is usually minimal (ie- Eibach- .8"- 1.5") and normal struts still wear faster.

That's exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks!
Good to know those types of unforseeable complications when modifying a vehicle.
