I have a 2001 QX4 that I am looking to drop, have been doing a bit of research and decided to go with the lowering springs off of 4x4parts (2" drop)https://www.4x4parts.com/catal...d=153

Along with the KYB Gas A Just Shocks.https://www.4x4parts.com/catal...=4806

My question is will these shocks be stiff enough to stop me from bottoming out in the back everytime? All that is in the trunk is a ported sub box with 2-10" subs. Weighing roughly 50lbs?

I'm not totally familar with the 2" drop springs. However I did have (for a VERY short time) a pair of KYB Gas A Just Shocks installed on my 2001 QX4 with stock springs. They have been off my QX4 after I had them in for about a week and approximately 200 miles of usage. I had loaded up the trunk/cargo area fully (about 300lbs of cargo) and with the maximum occupants (5) people in my 2001 QX4 and it DOESN'T bottom out at all.

In fact in you want to save some money I have them for sale at $85.00 shipped! I have them for sale here >> zerothread?id=473378 PM me if you're interested.

Ok well i have the 2" lowering springs on my 02 pathy, the gas adjust shocks in the back and the kyb-gr2s up front.

i also have a sub box and an amp in the back, and you dont bottom out, but the spring rebound rate is alot higher than stock, so it might feel like it, since if you go over a decent sized pothole your a** will leave the seat about 3 inches.

Did you have to remove the factory bump stops so it wouldn't bottom out all the time?

No i actually didnt, i did see that it was pretty close to the top of where the coil sits with that bump stop, but i cant hear it bottoming out or it doesnt feel like it cause i had that with my OEMs in the back cause they were shot. these coils are alot thicker and harder, and the spring rebound rate is high.

What size of tires are you running? I am almost 100% sure I am going to have to roll my fenders as the 265/40/22s (30.5") will rub? They are only 0.4" wider in overall diameter then my winter tires (255/65/17).

Another thing is you cant roll pathy/qx4 fenders cause its a molding and if your are going to go with 22's I justice you go with 265/35r22 as it is similar diameter as the original wheel

I order my springs on Jan 29 and still not shipped yet .Miam I'll be the first one with Lowering springs and 22;s

if you get your springs haha :p, and 22"s your probably going to F up your fenders pretty nice especially if they stick out of the wheel wells, and since there will be almost no space between the fender and tire, you go over some bumps and it'll rub really nice. im getting 20's and they are going to stick out past the wheel wells but there will be more space so i think im pretty safe.

I have 22" on my 01 QX4 (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2509499 w/ 265/35ZR-22 Goodyear Eagle GT XL), and you really need to know your offset (I'm at 18 I think) with them before you lower the vehicle anymore. If you have the 22" now, turn the steering wheel in either direction all the way and check the clearance. I have about an inch and a half that still clears even with shock travel. I would also do the same in reverse and see what you have as well.

Depending on where you live I would never put 22" on a vehicle mid winter. I know from experience killing one a couple of weeks ago taking way too much time to remove them. I went ahead and put some tires on my QX56 wheel modification.

Are you saying that ur ride did not lower after installation? Did allow th springs to settle first?

He was just saying that he couldn't get 4x4parts.com to lower the price of the lowering springs and he ended up paying more due to the necessary duties (for Canadian residents).
