Im looking for "lowering spring" ride hight comparisons.

I am the second owner of an S14 zenki and it desperatly

needs to be lowered but I cant put full suspension on it cause its my daily

and the streets in Tucson, AZ are unforgiving. Please any post pics of

Lowering spring droped S14's only. and tell me what youre rocking. thanks

everyone.

coilovers are comfortable as long as theyre not slammed. which obviously you dont want to slam your car anyway. get some slightly used coilovers. you wont regret it

this was when i had kyb agx struts with tanabe gf210 springs. they were really really comfortable. the drop was okay i guess.

regretted it and got coils though.

Sorry, but coilovers are not comfortable. They might be bearable, but never comfortable. They are rough, but that's what they're meant to be, so w/e.

You could always try airbagging it lol. I hear that's a really smooth setup.

AZ89two4Tsx is right. Coilovers are not comfortable. Nor were they designed with comfort in mind. They are for performance. The reason a lot of people regret not getting coils ia because springs just don't give the drop most people want. Or the adjustability. I like my springs. But they leave me wanting more.

coils can be comfy. just depends on what you buy/how you set em up.ride megans or ksports that are slammed, ya, not very livable(in my opinion) but ride in the same car with kwV3's that arent slammed to the ground, and its great

the height of the car has nothing to do with the ride, its the spring rate of that coilover. My car can b set high as hell, i if i go over a bump itll still feel the same as if it was slammed.

slammed car-riding on bumpstops,no travelnot slammed car-suspension has travel and can absorb impacts in the roadit has something to do with it. not to mention manipulating the spring by making it shorter

you have a point. i think i make my assumption because it seems like everyone complains about how stiff their coils are.i guess the only way to know is to ride around in some cars with coilovers to see if they are too stiff for you or not. personally i like the ride

^ peaple complain becouse they dont know what there lookin for, or they just want to complain, or they might be to stiff. but ive seen alot of peaple, even with nice coilovers, slam em till the lip scrapes and then complain"my springs are too stiff" when they run over a bump and there car, well, bumps. one of the main reasons a coil/shock combo is more liveable is becouse the springs were desighned for a certain height and you cant slam it. that, and (i may be wrong) but i believe most lowering springs are infact softer rates.

anyways, you can have both worlds, coilovers and a decent/comfy ride P.S. i love the coilovers.

Ive driven s13s and s14s and many other lowered cars. here is a list

hks ( dont know the model) , super drifts, meagan, ksport, on an s13 agx

with ground control (custom) on an ae86 (strait purpose built drift car

though stiff as f***ing hell) same on a 89 civic 4door, and a toyota

cressida. eibach sportline in my old ford focus and s13 and progress in my

old 200sx I have yet to ride a street-comfort adjustable coilover. thats my

point for this thread. I would like to compare pictures of spring lowered s14

ride hights, and possibly hear suggestions for sus that is streetable.

Thanks guys for all your input.

I have the same amount of suspension travel on my coilovers whether it's at full height or slammed to the ground. As long as you don't preload your springs, the shock absorbers should retain the same amount of travel at any height you set your coilovers for.

To the OP: I have springs on, its H&R springs on KYB AGX struts. Perfectly comfortable ride without sacrificing performance (great turn in). Front is slightly lower than rear (I think its like 1.4"F and 1.3"R).

I have 2" drop springs on stock struts and I feel that my suspension is too soft and unresponsive. The ride quality is pretty easy and soft but I really want to get a set of coilovers soon.

i think when it comes down to bad roads socal wins hands down

comfortable" and coilovers do not go together what so ever if you want you car to be comfortable just go springs but if u don't mind giving up the comfort then go coils.

Good. Lowering springs are a waste of money. Get some entry level coilovers.

I actually can see it now. Im cool with how those HR look for now. I would like some coilovers, but i cant really aford them at 1k. my previous car had ksport full coils, and ive witnessed the quality of them for 2 years. they were fine for me. I started to pic megan, but i saw a thread on here in which his busted ina year, and then they CLUNK when their blown. Im just going to take it easy for now.

I also see in comparison to the mazda forum, you guys really eat at people who buy cheap parts alot mroe, which i can understand.

There's nothing wrong with Megan. Maybe when they first came out, but now most of this China coilovers are roughly equal in quality. Plenty of Megan users around...
