Generally its not a good idea but depending on that springs you are putting on you may, basically if its a .5-1.0 inch drop than you should be ok but if you are gonna slam it (3"+) Id say you need to go ahead and get coilovers.

It probably will blow, the struts are designed to travel on stock springs.

ya i looked into that after posting my last comment, coilovers will probably be alot safer and i can get more drop out of them. now for the next question who makes a good set of coilovers that will be a comfortable ride once i lower it

I'm on Megan springs with stock shocks/struts. The drop is nice, the ride good, and I like it. No issues with a blown one yet and it's been about a year. Keep in mind tho if you lower the car too much, you'll need at the very least, FUCA's and RUCA's for chamber issues.

Also, did you do new struts when you went to the Megans? If they were new, then they would have broken in on the Megan height and travel. 100K+ miles on the stock springs though, and the struts get used to the certain travel and height. Drop them lower and force the part of the strut that's been exposed for years into the soft seal, you're almost guaranteed to blow the strut out.

I got a good 1.5" t0 2" all the way around. The wheel to fender gap is gone completely but it's not tucking tire. The ride IMO is better than my stock shocks. It's not bouncy at all, nice and firm but doesn't beat you up. I love the ride quality! And the Louisiana roads are some of the worst in the nation!

Yes the struts were new when I went to Megans, so the break in was on the Megan's travel. I've had them on for quite a while with no issues as of yet. Like I said, I love the look and ride. Just perfect for someone looking for a nice drop and for a decent price.
