Hello everyone, got a quick question. I have a 1984 Datsun/Nissan 720 pickup. I lowered the front by cranking down the torsion bars. And i got ready to do the rear end. Got the u bolts all taken out, and jacked up the rear end. But, instead of the rear end and the leafs seperating... they went together. Then i notice that there is a bolt coming down from the rear end going through all 3 leafs. So, i loosend the nut and they are now sepereated.. But the bolt comeing down from the rear end makes me not able to put in the blocks? So what should i do? Can i still lower it? Do i have to do it a different way? I am stumped.. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

I don't have a 720, but on my hardbody, there is a bolt in the center that holds the spring pack together. This bolt stays in place, the block has a recess that centers it on the spring pack where the bolt slots into it. You are saying this bolt is attached to the axle itself?

Hope someone else can help, this is beyond me.

Should be a bolt on each leaf pack called a centering pin. That should not be removed unless your replacing or adding leaf springs.

You should only have to remove the u bolts and/or shocks. Raise the axle off of the leaf spring and install the block. One end should have a post and the other should have a recessed hole for the center pin to fit in. Now you should be able to install the bigger u-bolts.

I hope I understood you correctly and answered it for you.

Got the problem. Bolt was rusted in the hole in the axle, so it looked like it came out of the axle. Got it all done now :)
Will post pics if you would like
