Ok, so I bought eibach pro kits lowering kit and had a mechanic install them on the vehicle. Initially I heard this loud creeking noise and thought that it was from the springs needing to settle or some bull crap. But I had my mechanic supposedly fix that issue. I then brought it to a place to get it alligned to make sure its good and alligned.

The main reason I am writing on this forum right now is that every time I turn my wheel hard to the left or right I still hear a noise and then it knocks my car's alignment off. I can fix this issue by turning hard to the opposing direction. But this is a neuscience and shouldn't have to be done to such a nice vehicle. Any ideas? or anyone experianced this same issue?

Please all advice is truly appreciated.

turning hard to the opposite direction to fix it? i really don't think so. i'm wondering if your mechanic installed it improperly or your springs are messed up. most obvious problems imo.

When you say it is throwing your alignment off, you can physically feel the car tracking to one side? And it goes to whichever side you originally turned to?

Correct. So if I am stopped and cut hard to the right. Then start driving straight and let go of the wheel and will go to the right immediately. If I stop and pull the cars wheel to the left then turn back and forth alignment is perfect again. Drives me crazy

I tend to get that issue with my coilovers when the weather turns cold. I think I need to take another whack at properly preloading my front-passenger-side spring.

When the car is stopped or at low speed, turning the wheel gives you a pinging noise, right? And then it pulls to one side. Turning the wheel back the other way will center it. I've had this for a while, but I have no time to get under the car to fix it. My guess is it's the preload on the springs, and you should have it taken back and adjusted.

In my case, it only appears in cold weather, and if I think back to chemistry/physics, I'm pretty sure that the change in temperature affects the metal in the springs one way or the other (after a short while of driving, it goes away, so there must have been enough friction to heat them up again), and that is enough for the car to tell me, "Hey, your preload is ever so slightly off. Fix it, jackhole."

hmmm... I just called the original mechanic that installed them and he assured me he properly preloaded the springs which i dont even knwo what that means. I just don't get it. I assume most people on here have installed eibach pro lowering kit. And if thats the case why is mine giving me an issue?

Have a Nissan dealer take a look at it?

If it bothers you enough, take it somewhere else and get a second opinion. Of course the guy you've already paid is going to tell you he did it right. He might have, and it might be something else. Even if he screwed up, he's got not reason to fix his old work ('cause he's probably not going to get away with charging you for it).

"Preload" means that the spring is always compressed, even when the shock is not attached to the car. Improper preload will allow your springs to basically "bounce around" under the car in certain circumstances, and rotate in place. I'm not as familiar with springs as I am with the coilovers, so this might all be inapplicable to you.

Can somebody with more technical knowledge comment?

I should say, though, that this thread inspired me to order a replacement spanner wrench so that I can eventually get to fixing my own springs. :D

Haha, thanks. I have a long list of things I need to buy for maintenance.

Second K&N Cone filter
K&N Filter Cleaner
Spark Plugs

And then I have all kinds of crap I need to do, too.

Coilover Preload
Change Spark Plugs
Check Drive Belt
Attach Wheel Spacers
Rotate Tires
Change Oil.

Ugh, I'm just now realizing that the weekend off I was expecting isn't really going to be a weekend off.

Hey man that sounds like a weekend of fun! plus you can knock some of things out at the same time, like spacers and rotation! or Sparks and drive belt!

Well, I don't know how else to explain it. I know that's the problem with my coilovers and he's got all the same symptoms. Something's causing the springs to be unseated, so if you'd like to add something constructive to the conversation, buddy, go for it.

But when I need some help as to what may be the issue. I have one guy that tries to help. Please help with ideas or anyone that has had this same issue. Thanks!!

My mechanic jut sent me this text. "You need the aftermarket rack and pinon adjustment sensors for both is 138.61 I can have them in 2 days if you wanna bring me the money I'll order them"

Do u think that's the problem?

No..he's being a mechanic and trying to squeeze as much as he can outta you. I have Teins and don't have any problems other than a noise I get when I go up my drive way, and a popping sound pretty rarely.

Thanks Matty. Then why do u think that when I pull hard to the right or left while stopped it throws my alignmemnt off and I hear a popping noise? Also do u think that maybe the springs them selves maybe weren't compressed enough? I'm truly an idiot with these issues.

I'm not too sure about the alignment part, but my car does the same with the popping sound sometimes. It's usually when I hit a fairly deep crack in the road or something, I'll hear kind of a "pop" sound real quick but that's it. Also, usually after my car hasn't been driven in a while (over night or something), my springs will make funny sounds for a while after I'm driving. Usually goes away pretty soon though.

I haven't had any issues with my Eibachs, no popping noise, no sqeaking, nothing. By your mechanic saying you need adjustment sensors it would throw up a red flag for me. To me he installed them wrong. My guy only does suspensions, he let me drive his Audi A6 that was slammed and I once around the block I knew I had the right person for the job. Sorry I couldn't help but I wish you luck in getting it fixed.

I agree I think theyy truly must have been installed wrong. I just don't see how. He has done it many times and said he kept them compressed or whatever. That's my only concern is if her skimped on the compressing the springs maybethats why it's doing this. But if I bring it to nissan do you think they have experiance with lowered altimas since its not a factory option?

Finally took my car to nissan to fix the issue. The idiot that installed mine must have misplaced my strut bearings. So nissan got me brand new strut bearings and reassembled it. Car is perfect now.
