Ok, so I'm going to be trading my friend some subs and an amp for his Eibach springs and some struts and some other stuff, and when i told my parents about this they must have asked someone about lowering cars because they come back to me the next day and said I can't do it because someone told them you can break your spindles by lowering your car. So I was like "WTF?!? I've never heard of this" But they will not move on their position. I have friends with they 240s slammed like 3 finger gap from the ground and stuff, and they've been running like that for a long time. So basically what I'm asking is if there is any truth to breaking your spindles from lowering your car?

lowring your car could cause more "wear-and tear" on some parts. But iv'e never heard of the spindles breaking.

I've never heard of a spindle breaking from lowering a car. I've only seen aluminum ones break and thats usually because someone can't drive.

yea it should be fine, you really only wreak havoc on the struts.

incorrect!

You cause havon on-Tension rod bushingslower balljointstie rods and tie rod ends

and every bushing in the rear gets tweeked

regardless. for your drop, NO nothing will be damaged

tell them to not ask mini truck owners.

on most pickups, s10's for example, you can lower the trucks by use of aftermarket spindles which actually raise the axle point on the spindle therefore lowering the vehicle.

being the spinle/axle is one piece, if you by a cheap one, they can brake. or if they are installed wrong they can break.

you arent changing out you spindle, or modifying it in anyway.

show/tell your parents. get some truck magazines, and some car mags, and show them the differences.

hope i helped.

I am pretty sure they talked to someone who thinks you are going to airbag or hydro your car. If you do those things yes you will break spindles and other parts. Dropping your car on springs WILL NOT cause breakage of those parts.

Hence you reset bushing positions and re-tighten everything with the suspension loaded :P

uh, doesn't matter. If you drop an S13 (don't know about S14's) more than an inch, you bottom out the suspension, misalign everything to the point that you need adjustable suspension pieces to get it right. The Eibach springs lower more than an inch (prokit and sportlines). Yokota is right and anyone with a lowered 240 can attest to this as well.

That's why we're all in search of new spindles to replace our broken ones. Since when did your parents become 240 experts.

Anyways, Eibach sportlines will only be good enough to give you that "not quite 4x4 look".

The only thing you will have to worry about is being injured in an accident more easily due to the fact that your bumpers and doors will be lower than EVEN MORE of the other cars on the road.

You can drop an S13 a few inches and still bring everything within reason. Sure you'll have a decent amount of bump-steer and anti-squat... but that still has absolutely nothing to do with reducing bushing bind at normal ride height.
