Anyone able to give me general instructions on how to lower the front end of my 85 Nissan 720 P/U? Im going to do lowering blocks on the rear end and am also wanting to lower the front end by adjusting the torsion bars. Also, what are "bump stops" and where are they located?

All the info you need for lowering can be found here. The bump stops are the rubber things that keep your suspension from bottoming out. They are black and rubbery... rear ones are located directly above the axle on both sides of the frame, the front ones are located directly above the control arms.

Any other info on the truck can be found by clicking the links in my sig below, for datsun trucks forum as well as the nissan trucks forum!

Welcome.. and enjoy your stay!

Do you have to switch out the shocks when you lower it, or is that optional? If you have to, do you have to switch out both front and rear or just one or the other?

What would the out come be if all I did to lower my truck is, lower the rear with blocks and turn down the torsion bars in front and NOTHING else?

1- How would It ride?
2- What would it affect negatively?
3- How would the alignment end u?

Also, does the truck need the bump stops?

Ride gets bumpy, but bearable. No need to change shocks with this method. Negative effects are basically just the alignment, positive camber that needs to be fixed as well as a lot of toe... not a big deal other than alignment shops like to be lazy and not want to deal with it. It should have bump stops on a stock setup. You don't want to remove those going lower because you may bottom out the suspension. You also don't want to leave them as is because you'll be hitting them causing super crappy ride. Cut them down... plain and simple.

Thanks for the advice PEZi. What would you say would be the FASTEST/EASIEST/CHEAPEST route to take on lowering my truck? I don't want a super bumpy ride and I'm also not expecting the best given the amount of money I'm wanting to spend.

The ride really isn't that bad with this method. It is by far the easiest and cheapest as well.

And your referring to, lowering blocks in the rear and adjusting the torsion bars in the front. Also, cutting down the bump stops, and if I want I can (optional) change out all four shocks to maybe get a smoother ride. Is there any way to do this with out messing with the alignment/toe?

Ive also been reading a lot about re-indexing the control arm bushings, would that be necessary in this case? I tried searching the thread you were talking about in another chat about this subject but since I'm new to this site I didn't have any luck finding it.

Are you referring to the alignment, or re-indexing the control arm bushings?
