I was driving in the rain for the first time with lowered tein flex and 19inch OEM tired. I noticed when i was trying to reach speed of 70-80 miles on the freeway my steering wheel will start kicking to the right and left and if i was about to lose control. Does any one know why this is? but driving it around 55-65 it seems to be ok. But when i speed up again to around 70-80 my steering wheel kicks really fast to the right and left. IS it becuase it is lowered(about 2inches) or the suspension? or the tires...? what is going on...seems very dangerous. The VDC light didn't turn on so im assuming im not hydroplaning.

sounds like potential for disaster! did you have it aligned? Id have the alignment done by somone that knows race suspension. You may have too much toe out causing it to dart. But get it checked.

I had the exact same problem in my 240sx, but the tail would get loose.

Alignment cured it.

When you lower a car you really should get it realigned.

Good luck.

Anytime you modify suspension parts, an alignment is required. I don't think the rain had anything to do with it....what about 70+ in dry weather?

i did have an alignment done. In dry weather the car drives fine. It was the first time that had ever happened. and it was also the first time the car saw rain. I know the alignment spec for one of the right tires is like -3 on the left and -2.4 on the right. but the back tires because i got toes are back to spec. Driving in the dry is fine the car doesn't do any of that...so any ideas?

thread is still good....k so i called the shop that did my suspension and alignment...and they said since i got the tein flex installed its a more aggressive suspension so when driving the holes in the ground are filled with water therefore it creates a lil hydroplane do to the tire not touching the ground so it makes it pull to whichever way...does this sound right..? puddles creates the car to loose traction due to that wheel being off balanced.

Could be some light hydroplaning as you hit small puddles of water. This can be more apparent in a car with responsive handling. The factors that give better response from your hand to the road also give you more feel of what tires are doing. You'll feel a lot more than your mom's minivan does...

I agree with C-Kwik. It sounds like your hydroplaning...this explains why it doesn't do it in dry weather and only at speed in wet.

"puddles" of water shouldn't do too much except on the rear tires or a FWD car...but I'm sure you're going over patches of water that are bigger than just "puddles". Now big sheets or large patches of water....definitely understandable. Shounds like a classic case of hydroplaning. So you've never driven the car in rain ever? Or is this just the first time since the drop?

If the car drove fine before the drop with the same tires and rims....then maybe it is suspension related. Alignment or new tires for the win in any case after you find out what the actual problem is

i got the car in may so yea this is actually the first time the car has seen rain (heavy rain) i think. I think i saw rain a few times before but that was before the drop. but yea during dry weather the car drives fine. Puddles i mean like uneven pavement on the freeway, holes etc... but tires are still good...barely had the car since may of 07 so the car is still fairly new...

Hey tightvpkid

I've driven in heavy rain here in NJ between 75 & 80 MPH many times in the early morning hours in light traffic & have never experienced your problem. This may seem to be a stupid question but "Why did you modify the suspension"?Before you kill yourself or someone else replace your tires with new ones and get the alignment as others have recommended at the same time. If the problem happens again get rid of the modified suspension and put your vehicle back to stock. If you are young & you haven't fully funded your IRA and 401k plan, my advice is to stop pissing money away on a depreciating piece of metal (alright it is a fun vehicle) with costly modifications because one day you are going to be an old farht like me and wish you saved all that money. Why do you feel that the Infiniti engineers did not do a good job in designing your vehicle and it needs modification? I think they did a outstanding job in designing mine.

Just my opinion

My car felt perfect on dry pavement, but was scary in the rain. The water allowed everything to skate around on the pavement much easier. I am sure it was shredding my tires on dry.

so alignment is the problem evans? even though i did the alignment when i got the suspension put on....the right was 3.2 and the front left was 2.3 while the rear where like 2.3 and 1.4 i think because i had toes...interesting
