I am new to the forum. my son has a 1995 hardbody that we lowered. Since we lowered it, it is eating the front tires. Can i get the alignment close without taking it to the shop. I shimmed the upper a-arm, put it didn't help much.

Mine ate them up on the inside of the front also and its not lowered. I've only put about 400 miles on it since I've had it but I'm gonna let a shop figure out whats going on.

the part that is eating your tires is the toe being out from the lowering... you can try to get it back near 'good range' and it involves measuring the distance from the centerline of both the left and right front tires in both the front and back of each tire... and adjusting until the front of both tires is the same distance as the rear of both when measured from the centerline... hopefully that made sense

the upper arm is for camber... i can tell you from experience camber isn't what eats tires... its the toe

i should add you should ALWAYS go to a shop for toe alignment... but no one is going to force you to do so

***edit***... here is a pic of what the tires are doing... not as noticeable in person as in the picture... but basically you need to make them both point straight again
