The biggest issue on my A/C is making sure that the TCS is OFF before trying to get unstuck or attempting to drive through deep snow at low speeds. TCS just keeps your wheels from turning at all and you end up stuck or beached in deeper snow. With TCS off, the CVT performs okay, though not as flexible as a manual.

driving in edmonton is probably as worse as in winnipeg.....

as for block heater, it is only standard in certain areas such as edmonton or winnipeg, vancouver has them as options.

I currently live in edm and they use TONS of sand and pebbles instead of salt = =

Really? Standard in all of Ontario and Quebec. Thought it was Canada-wide.

Sigh... I'm learning this winter why I used to love driving my 03 Xterra in this kind of weather. The AC is alright, but nothing beat that thing when we got that huge dump of snow last winter.

My only complaint about the AC in winter is I'm finding that I scrape the bottom on some of the less-used roads and I'm running at stock height. And that the car seems a bit light and does not have as much traction as one might desire. (yes I have winters... ultra grip ice to be exact) could be due to the 2.5.... maby you 3.5 guys have a bit more weight up front to give a bit more grip... not to mention the VDC
