lower temps outside = dash lights out for a while

I love winter, dont you? time to ski and get stoned with friends at the ski resort. lol. its one time in a year, so its worth it.

besides the point, anyone knows, why when you start the car in cold temperatures(winter time), dash lights dont come on for a minute or two?

i got digital speedo, analog tach. so u start the car speedo is out; comes on in 1-2 minutes. WHY? higher resistance due to lower temps?

maybe the car being so old.. time has taken its tole on the grounds.. and when the car is ice cold, the grounds shrink.. and loose contact, when the car warms up, the contacts make contact.

Any other ideas people? it is really annoying to drive in really cold winter.

sometimes i have to drive for 5 minutes without speedometer. i just guess speed by rpm on certain gear.
