I have an S13 Black top. Stock for the most part. Some minor bolt ons. First gear will go all the way to an amazing 3500rpm, 2nd to 3200rpm, 3rd to 2900rpm and 4th to 2500/2600. The only way to get any of them to go above these rpms is to sneak up on them and at best each will only get about 300 more rpm. Just so you know I am currently in Afghanistan. All of the info I just gave you came from my wife, who is the one that gave me the motor swap and helped me install everything. The motor was fully rebuilt about 5 months go by us. It has started this problem in the last month. Of course after I left to come here. Any help on this matter would be awesome. I am going to have to get her to do anything that is suggested. So please be as specific as possible with your test and check instructions. Thanks to any who can help.

Sounds like a MAF problem. If the ECU doesnt sense the MAF, itll put a limiter around 3500rpm and the cars gonna run rough and rich. An intercooler pipe being disconnected can cause the same thing.

Exactly what I told her to check first. I asked her if it was smoking or if she could smell fuel. She said no fuel smell just the rpm limit. I am extremely happy she is the kind of woman to pay attention to things like rpm and smoke or fuel fumes when she knows there is a problem. I already emailed her to check the MAF connector and then the piping. Thanks for the reassurance in my direction for trouble shooting this.
