Lower Resistor Blower Issue

I have a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE 3.5 with the Navigation that controls the A/C. One day the fan turned on and stays on high even though I lower the fan speed. Read on many blogs the issue is the Lower Resistor, so I went to the dealer and got the part ($165.00 later) after a few days the Lower Resistor went out again. I think there is a short somewhere. Has anyone run into this problem before?
