I have to say, I really like using the lower rad hose off the 89-90 240sx to house my fan switch.

The story so far:After my car came out of the shop, we were installing a spearco intercooler to replace the old Saab 900 unit I've been using for years. The spearco was better suited for my end goals and we neatly tucked it up under the upper core support, which allowed me to move my radiator back to stock location.

While we were at it, I decided to clean up some wiring and sensor routing. Also, in the shuffle, my upper hose cross pipe got used on a different car we were putting together. Usually we use a subaru temp switch in the cross pipe to switch on the fans. Since I was going to put new equipment on my car, I was looking at the prices, and it was about the same cost to buy the whole lower rad hose off an 89-90 240sx as it was to buy the Subaru switch.

I have to say, this is probably the easiest, and cleanest way to mount a temp switch to control your radiator fans. The switch isn't designed to carry a high load across it, so it does require a relay setup to activate the fan itself. No biggy for me since we had already put a relay in the circuit.

Anyways, I highly recommend using the SOHC lower rad hose if you're looking for a good, economical, fan controller. It should run about $50, but you get the whole lower hose, the switch (with a two prong plug attached. you'll need to source a 2 prong female plug), and the switch housing. It's much better than having to wire in some complicated setup, and I think it's a more refined setup over having the fan hardwired in on ignition startup.
