I've had a problem where I drive my car around for a while pop the hood and my lower radiator hose is not warm at all. I figured it was because the thermostat might be bad so I replaced it and still have the same problem. Any idea what else might be causing this problem. BTW it's a S14 SR20det.

Is it overheating? You could have air in the system.

Coolent level is normal. The coolent temp gauge only goes up half way, but the valve cover gets too hot to touch. Is that normal? At any point should the lower radiator hose be as hot as the upper hose?

Should be a little cooler than the top radiator hose but should be still warm, especially on idle were theres no driving cold air cooling the radiator. Valve cover will only get so hot if you been driving in traffic for awhile and just street driving. Check your radiator on both sides. There could be debry of some sort in the radiator. If you havent, try and flush your coolant.

Hey, you might wanna check your water pump, because if its not working, there no circulation.
