What hose are you guys running for your lower rad hose? I tried a stock KA hose, but it's nearly impossible to get to fit over the tstat housing..

My sob story:So I spent a ton of time and energy removing my intake manifold, replacing the tstat and replacing the lower radiator hose. What a pain!

I had it all back together, took it around the block.. not a drip!Had it up to temp idling in the garage for a while.. not a drip!Started to go back out for a drive in the nice weather! pop.. sploosh.. i got coolant all over the driveway.

Must be the lower rad hose that busted again.

So I have to do the whole damn project over again..

What hose should I use this time? Anyone know of a good one? Anyone have a stock number?

spit on it. lube that ish up

its a known issue that its hard to put on. always suggest to people to put it on before the engine goes on. but just lube it up and jam it on there.

gonna take some elbow grease

*using stock ka

I thought I had it on there tight... tight as hell actually.. with two clamps tighted as much as I could get them..

I wonder if I put too much stress on the rubber trying to stretch it out to get it on there..

I gotta try something other than a KA hose.

I just got mine in the mail today from Tweakit.net, an aussie skyline shop. The stock RB20 one I recieved looks to be expanded at the thermostat kneck to fit. That is probably your problem.

Ah.. that's what I was hoping for.. except for the fact that it has to ship from overseas.

Brand spanking new hose from advance auto. Had a HELL of a time getting it on.. had to grab an old bottle of wine and force it over the end and push it up the glass bottle to stretch the end and then leave it overnight.. the next day I finally got it to slip on.. pushed it as far as I could up the neck and then screwed it down hard with two clamps..

I'm wondering if it crimped a little in the center since it wasn't a perfect bend.. then built up pressure and popped off the tstat housing neck?.. Or perhaps I stretched the rubber to hard and it burst somewhere (seems unlikely).

I think Neal can get me a R32 GTS hose from Japan. Hopefully that will solve it for me.

Thanks for the input you guys!

The shipping from Australia took 10 days including a weekend.

Stock lower here.

Are you sure your radiator cap is working etc... something else besides the hose could be the problem.

Surprises me you would blow off/ blow up a lower hose. I haven't really seen that problem on the boards.

well.. I just put in a brand spankin new thermostat.

maybe the rad cap is bad.. I know that I didn't get any flow to the overflow tank. I'll get a new one just to be sure. Good call Evan.

Make sure your radiator isn't plugged too.

I'm pretty sure the spring goes to the inside of the motor... Not that I haven't done dumber things in my life, but I'm pretty sure I got the tstat on there correctly.

I'm running custom ghetto rigged hoses from Advance, just brought in my RB20 stock hose that had a big slice in it and matched as best I could to similar hose out back. For my upper rad hose I have one of those metal wired laced suckers just cause.

Now see, why go through all this worry about whether or not this hose or that hose will work?

Seth, hose is ordered and I'll pick it up in the morn, along with your gasket.

I can see if they have another one in stock when I get Seth's tomorrow. They are relatively cheap, but I do charge a commission. 1000% on anything below $50...LOL

Nah, I'll see if they have one in stock.

NOTICEThis does not mean I will do this for everyone. As I am only going to make one trip to Nissan in the morning as it's a bit of a drive.

I used the Samco hoses upper and lower and they fit with minimal trimming. I'm rb25 though just get the samco's that fit the rb20 and trim them as needed.

Sorry man, no go. They didn't have one and wouldn't let me order another one. I tried for ya.

Seth, have your hose and gasket sitting in my bed room. I just need to find a box long enough to put the gasket in. I'll have it out by Saturday at the latest.
