Lower Front Door Seals

Anyone know why the foam stick on weather strips (~6 in long) behind the lower front door seals are required. They started falling off my 2009 rogue within a year and I tried to glue back on but not sure if they are necessary or perform any function.
Any thoughts or info on this would be appreciated.

Are you talking about the foam sandwiched between the lower door weatherstripping that tends to 'fall out'?

This seems to be common. I have just taken mine out and it does not seem to affect anything.

Yeh that's the one that keeps hanging down when you close the door. I have been tempted to remove completely but thought it might be there for a reason. Didn't want to introduce any more wind noise. I will remove next time it comes loose. Thanks for the reply.

Same thing here and I did cut mine with scissors a few days ago. Didn't know why is there but it was bugging me as well.
