How about the 3M tape with the protective foam.


Obviously, it is not visually pleasing, but if you're not into that, then this is a very good option. Personally, I never really look down there most of the time!

Here I purchased Automotive Pickup Camper tape at my local AutoZone. The beauty is that it's 3M tape but with the foam under it. So in addition to the 3M tape that we come to know and love, it seals out dust, moisture and vibrations!


Yippieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!


Just rained this week so here is the dirt & grit on the OEM weatherstrip that creates havoc with our paintjob.

Here is the 3M foam tape doing its job protecting. See the abrasions that would have been my paint?

Seals and protects while still being understated in looks! Works great!

I've never heard of that stuff, interesting idea, thanks for sharing!

I have been very happy with my 3M clear paint protection tape over the past 3.5 years, it has held up extremely well and you can't see it because it's transparent, but I can see how it might be improved with a bit of foam backing as this could help seal out some of the debris......

Good point. Just wiped the weatherstrip clean which I should have done earlier during the install.

After close observation, indeed the 3M tape with the foam pushes perfectly against the oem weatherstrip which should keep any debris out or at least diminish it.

Any type of automotive weatherstrip would probably get the job done as well.

Nice extra benefit.
